HOW TO BUY TICKETS

Renowned Baroque keyboardist Naoya Otsuka presents the 11th installment of his lecture-concert series exploring J.S. Bach’s works from unique perspectives. In February 2025, he will delve into the complete English Suites, a staple of the piano repertoire.

The six suites feature movements named after dances such as Allemande, Courante, Sarabande, Bourrée, Gavotte, Minuet, and Gigue. What kind of energy do these dances convey? What does it mean to perform them on the keyboard without dancers?

This concert offers a comparative listening experience, featuring instruments like the organ and harpsichord that Bach himself might have played, to uncover the mysteries surrounding his use of dance forms. Joining as a guest is Tatsuko Mori, an expert in Western dance and music history, who will provide insights into Baroque dance traditions. Immerse yourself in the world of Bach’s dances from a multifaceted perspective.
