Toshiki Okada

Playwright, novelist, and chelfitsch leader. Has attracted attention both in Japan and abroad for his unique methodology of using “imagination” and the relationship between words and the body, as well as for his critical eye toward contemporary society. In 2005, won the 49th Kishida Kunio Drama Award for “Five Days in March.” The theater company chelfitsch, which he leads, has performed in more than 90 cities around the world since its international debut in 2007 with this work. In recent years, has also worked on repertory pieces for public theaters in Europe. In July 2005, with his work “Cooler”, participated in the final round of the “TOYOTA CHOREOGRAPHY AWARD 2005 – Discovery of the next generation of choreographers”. Has collaborated with many dancers including Mirai Moriyama, Hana Sakai, and Ema Yuasa.

Ema Yuasa

Dancer/Choreographer. After graduating at the top of her class from the Princess Grace Academy of the Principality of Monaco, was a member of the Netherlands Dance Theater for about 11 years. After leaving the theater, has appeared as Juliet in Mats Ek’s version of “Juliet & Romeo” and as a guest in Sacha Waltz’s “Körper”, among others. Also a member of EASTMAN led by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, and launched the XHIASMA project, a collaboration platform with artists of different genres, and has released numerous works. Received the 13th and 15th Japan Dance Forum Awards. Currently, involved in a wide range of activities in Japan and abroad, including participation in new works by Damien Jalet/Kohei Nawa.

Shingo Ota

Film director/Actor. In college, majored in philosophy and narrative theory. First film, “Graduation,” won the Image Forum Festival 2010 Excellence Award and the Audience Award. After his first feature film “The End of the Moment We Had” premiered at the Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival 2013, it was released in 12 countries around the world. Recent works include the film “Kaihouku.” As an actor, first appeared on stage in the Hong Kong production of chelfitsch’s “Five Days in March” (2010), and has since appeared in theatrical productions as well as video productions. In 2022, a modern version of “At Kinosaki,” inspired by a short story by Naoya Shiga, is scheduled to be released. Also, the performance piece “The Last Geishas” will be shown in three cities.
