“Etoile” means “star” in French, and is also named after the head of the Paris Opera, the world’s most prestigious opera house. Worthy of its name, the “Piano Etoile Series” is an exciting program of performances by the theater’s selected up-and-coming pianists, who stand out among the brilliant lineup of young pianists.
Vol. 44 will feature Kenji Miura, winner of the 2019 Long-Thibault-Crespin Competition, juried by Argerich. Currently based in Berlin, active internationally and attracting attention from all over the world.
At the age of 13, Miura went to England alone to study in Europeー After leaving the world of music, returned to this path with determination. Please look forward to a performance by a future maestro who approaches the composer and breathes life into the work with his own philosophy.
Comment from Kenji Miura!
This recital program is a journey into the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, the origin of classical music, and how his music has influenced future composers throughout the ages. Bach’s music is often regarded as religious and formal, but I believe it is actually very dramatic and full of love. I have collected works full of drama and love from composers who were inspired by his music. I hope that the light of hope felt in Bach’s music will reach you as well. Looking forward to seeing you at the venue.
