Gontaro Yanagiya

Born in January 1947, Tokyo.

In 1970, after graduating from Meiji Gakuin University with a degree in law, entered Tsubame Yanagiya with a stage name “Hotaru”.

In 1974, became a student of Kosan Yanagiya after his master passed away.

In November 1975, promoted to Futatsume and renamed to “Sanko”.

In September 1982, passed the Shinuchi promotion examination held by the Rakugo Association at the time, and was promoted to Shinuchi by passing 18 others. Became the third generation “Yanagiya Gontaro”.

In 2013, appointed as Auditor of the Rakugo Association of Japan.

◆1978, Awarded the NHK Newcomer Rakugo Contest Excellence Prize.

◆2012, Awarded the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award for Art Encouragement.

◆2013, Awarded the Medal with Purple Ribbon.

Komaji Kokontei

Born in December 1978, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo.

In 2003, after graduating from Tamagawa University, became a member of Shinkoma Kokontei, stage name as “Komaji”.

In 2007, promoted to Futatsume.

In 2018, joined Shinbashi Kokontei upon the death of Shinkoma Kokontei. In September of the same year, promoted to Shinuchi and renamed to “Komaji”(same reading, different kanji character).

◆2017, Awarded the Shibuya Rakugo Creative Rakugo Grand Prize.

Gonnosuke Yanagiya

Born in October 1976, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo

In 2004, became a member of Gontaro Yanagiya, stage name as “Gonbo”.

In 2008, promoted to Futatsume and renamed to “Hotaru”.

In September 2019, promoted to Shinuchi and renamed to “Gonnosuke”.

Ichiya Ryutei

Born in February 1984, in Setagaya-ku, Tokyo

In 2007, became a member of Ichiba Ryutei, stage name as “Ichiya”.

In September 2012, promoted to Futatsume and renamed to “Ichiya”(same reading, different kanji character).

In September 2022, promotion to Shinuchi is confirmed!
