A popular concert where you can casually enjoy a first class music for 50 minutes at noon. In this 51th concert, we will be welcoming Mayuko Ishigami, a violinist who is expanding her activities and is highly regarded for her rich expression and advanced performance skills, and Atsushi Yamanaka, a composer and pianist who has been remarkably active in recent years. The program will include Mozart’s famous Sonata No. 23, stylish pieces by the American composer Copland, and Christmas related works that are perfect for December. Please join us to enjoy a gorgeous ensemble of violin and piano in the season when the city is decorated with illuminations.

Artist Profile

Mayuko Ishigami / Violin
At the age of eight, invited to the International Music Festival in Rome. Won second prize at the 77th Japan Music Competition, as well as the Audience Prize and the E. Nakamichi Prize. Has also won prizes at competitions in Japan and abroad, and has appeared on NHKFM’s Masterpiece Recital and Recital Nova. Performed with orchestras in Japan and abroad, including the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Kyoto Symphony Orchestra, Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra, Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Brasov. Also performed at many music festivals overseas. In addition to her solo activities, she is a member of the Nagaokakyo Chamber Ensemble and Ensemble Kujoyama. Director of the Ensemble Amoibe series. Music Dialogue artist. CHANEL Pygmalion Days chamber music artist. One of the first registered artist of Kyoto Concert Hall. Received the Kyoto City Art Newcomer Award in 2019. Winner of the 2019 Music Critics Club Award for Encouragement. Awarded the 29th Aoyama Music Award, Aoyama Prize, 2019. CD『Janacek: Violin Sonata』is now on sale from Nippon Columbia.

 

Atsushi Yamanaka / Piano
Graduated from both the composition and piano departments of the Tokyo University of the Arts. Received the master’s degree in music composition from the same university. Won the first prize in the composition division of the 26th Sogakudo Japanese Song Contest. As a composer, he has published many pieces of instrumental, chamber and choral music. As a pianist, made his recital debut in 2018, and is a trusted collaborator and has been nominated by many famous artists in Japan and abroad to perform. Each of the CDs he has participated in has been selected as a special or semi selected CD by Record Geijutsu magazine, and has appeared in many media. In 2019, released his solo album『Journey and Longing』. In 2020, formed a piano duo『176』(un set sis) with pianist and composer Yusuke Takahashi. Challenged to perform orchestral works with his own arrangements and the first concert was held with『Respighi’s Roman Trilogy』as the main piece, and at the same time, the score was published by Kawai Publishing and a live recording was made.
