The girl goes into the forest searching for invisible creatures…

Mum-Gypsy’s Takahiro Fujita’s first theater work,『Can’t see, wanna hear』is a play that both children and adults can enjoy together. The play uses a variety of techniques to lower the threshold for children to see the play, such as using a large cloth as a forest, games such as Shiritori (Japanese word game), and visual effects using bubbles. The play also challenges the motifs of a girl’s growth, independence, and war, and was highly acclaimed at its premiere in 2018, as a play that can also be suitable by adult audiences. In 2019, 36 performances were held in 14 cities across Japan, from Hokkaido to Okinawa, attracting a total of more than 4,000 people. In 2021, the long-awaited performance will be held and toured six cities across Japan! Let’s go together searching for the invisible creatures!

 

 

Summary
A girl who has trouble from bed-wetting goes to the forest at night to fulfill an old legend she heard from her cat, Nya-Nya-chan. When mom was a child, she also went to the forest where there were many animals, strange creatures, and fairies living. The girl is led deep into the forest by a hunter she meets. Eventually, arrived at an old house. While the war is about to start with the forest next door, the girl saw in the old house was……

Profile

Takahiro Fujita
Born in 1985. Director of Mum-Gypsy, playwright. In 2007, founder of Mum-Gypsy. His cinematic technique of showing the refrain of an iconic scene from a different angle has attracted attention. In 2011, won the 56th Kishida Kunio Drama Award for his three-part series, 『Kaeri no Aizu, Matteta Shokutaku, Soko, Kitto, Shiofuru Sekai.』In 2015, won the Outstanding Director Award at the 23rd Yomiuri Theater Awards for 『cocoon』 (revival), based on the novel by Kyo Machiko. In addition to his theatrical works, has published essays, novels, and co-written manga. In July 2007, published the first collection of stories, 『Kisetsu wo tsugeru keba-keba wa yoru ga shitta moke-moke』 (Kawade Shobo Shinsha).


Ikuko Harada
Born in Fukuoka, Japan. In 1995, formed a three-piece band 「Clammbon」. Sings and plays the keyboard. As well with the band activities, she has been actively performing with various musicians, co-writing, and performing solo. Released four solo albums: 「Piano」 in 2004, 「Kehai to Yoin」, 「Kemono to Majyo」, and 「Ginga」 in 2008. In 2010, was involved in the launch of Kichijyoji’s event space and cafe, 『Kichim』. For the performances of Mum-Gypsy/Fujita Takahiro, she was in charge of the music for 『cocoon』 in 2013 & 2015, 『Can’t see, wanna hear』 in 2018 & 2019, and 『Kagami mado tobira』 in 2020.


suzuki takayuki
A fashion brand that has been active since 2002. The designer, Takayuki Suzuki, started to work on costumes for dance and music after exhibiting his works at an art gallery, and launched the fashion brand 「suzuki takayuki」. Since then, he has continued to present his collections both in Japan and abroad. Not limited to brand business, he also collaborates with various artists, provides costumes to musicians, and actively produces costumes for theater, dance, and film, as well as stage art, and is involved in many activities related to cloth and clothing.
