A popular concert where you can casually enjoy a first class performance for 50 minutes at noon. In this Vol. 48th concert, it will feature Nikkikai singers, Akiko Tomihira (soprano) and Kyosuke Kanayama (tenor). In addition to famous Japanese songs, the concert will also feature duets and opera arias from Donizetti’s opera 《La Dolce Vita》, a masterpiece of bel canto opera. Please spend a special lunch time enjoying the sweet sound of soprano and tenor.

Artist Profile

 

Akiko Tomihira (Soprano)
Graduated from the Tokyo University of the Arts and completed the graduate course in opera at the same university, as well as completing the opera course at the University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart with top honors. After that, she was accepted to the Opera Training Institute of the Bayerische Staatsoper where she studied and performed in 《The Knight of the Rose》, 《Hansel and Gretel》 and 《The Magic Flute》. She has also appeared at theaters throughout Germany in such roles as Susanna in 《The Marriage of Figaro》 and as Valenciennes in 《The Merry Widow》. In Japan, she has performed in 《The Magic Flute》 and 《The Temple of the Golden Pavilion》 directed by Amon Miyamoto, as well as 《The Freeshooter》 《Ariadne of Naxos》, 《The Abduction from the Seraglio》, 《Fidelio》, and many other operas sponsored by the Tokyo Nikkikai. With her expressive voice, gorgeous stage appearance, and outstanding acting ability, she is expanding her career. She is scheduled to appear in 《La Boheme》 as Musetta at the Nissay Theatre and in the title role of 《Lulu》 at the Tokyo Nikkikai. She is a Nikkikai member.

 

Kyosuke Kanayama (Tenor)
Born in Shimane Prefecture. Graduated top in class from Kunitachi College of Music, Department of Voice. He was awarded the Yatabe Prize on graduation. Received his master’s degree in opera from the Tokyo University of the Arts. He has performed a variety roles in operas, and after making his debut as Tamino in the Nikkikai Opera’s 《The Magic Flute》, he started appearing in many major Japanese operas. At the Nissay Theatre as Don Ottavio in 《Don Giovanni》, as Almaviva in 《The Barber of Seville》, as Belmonte in 《The Abduction from the Seraglio》, and at the Kanagawa Prefectural Hall Opera as Tamino in 《The Magic Flute》. He has also been a soloist in various religious works, including 《Messiah》, Mozart’s 《Requiem》, the Ninth Symphony, Rossini’s 《Stabat Mater》, and Haydn’s 《The Creation》. A member of the male vocal unit 《La Dill》. And a Nikkikai member.

 

Yuhei Kimura (Piano)
He was born and raised in Brazil, then in Japan, and grew up in Germany during his junior and high school years. Graduated from Musashino Academia Musicae, Department of Piano. Currently, he is active as a concert pianist for many famous vocalists, including solo concerts organized by his supporters’ association. Also active as a repetiteur for many opera productions in Japan and abroad, and his performances, including chord arrangements for concerts, have been described as genius pianists by such magazines as Yukan-Fuji and Nikkan-Gendai. In recent years, he has also been active as a choral conductor, performing at the Teatro Verdi in Italy and winning the highest prize in a competition. He is currently the music director and conductor of eight groups, and is active in performance activities that goes beyond genres. A pianist of the Nikkikai. And a member of the Japan Choral Conductors Association.
