Profile |
Yulianna Avdeeva (Piano) Acclaimed for her “noble passion and virtuosity,” Yulianna Avdeeva achieved international recognition after winning First Prize at the 16th International Chopin Piano Competition in 2010. She was the first female winner in 45 years, following the legendary Martha Argerich. Avdeeva’s performances are celebrated for their “profound depth and vivid tonal palette,” with The Telegraph praising her unwavering technical mastery and passionate musicality. In 2022, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette lauded her as a “bold and fearless female pianist.” Following her sold-out debut recital at Carnegie Hall in 2023, she returned to the iconic venue in October 2024, presenting a Chopin & Liszt program that included Liszt’s masterful Sonata in B Minor. In Spring 2025, commemorating the 50th anniversary of Shostakovich’s passing, Avdeeva will perform his 24 Preludes and Fugues at Leipzig’s Gewandhaus. This monumental cycle will also feature in her performances at Berlin’s Pierre Boulez Hall, the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, and venues in Madrid, Ostrava (Czech Republic), and Sion (Switzerland). Avdeeva’s expansive discography includes her 2023 album Resilience, a tribute to composers such as Władysław Szpilman, Mieczysław Weinberg, Shostakovich, and Sergei Prokofiev, who endured and triumphed during turbulent times. Her latest album, Voyage, released in 2024, focuses on Chopin’s later works. In Spring 2025, she will release a recording of Shostakovich’s 24 Preludes and Fugues on the PENTATONE label.
