SAITAMA ARTS FOUNDATION MEMBERS PRESALE

Apr.16.2022

In April 2022, Ryohei Kondo was appointed artistic director of the Saitama Arts Theatre, and his theme is “Crossing.” “Crossing” has three meanings:〈cross of diverse artists〉, 〈cross between regions〉, and 〈cross of diverse people〉.

Genre Cross is where artists of various genres stimulate each other and intermingle to create stage productions. This second production began with Ryohei Kondo’s suggestion of having Shu Matsui a playwright/director to write “an absurdist play that combines theater and dance.”

The performers includes Songha, who combines outstanding expressiveness and physical ability and is talented in a wide range of fields. Yoshiaki Kameda, a talented actor who captivates with his ever-changing acting ability. Kyoko Miyashita, who is active in movies and TV dramas, mainly on stage, using her physicality honed through classical ballet. Chika Araki, a young actor who has been highly acclaimed in Japan and abroad for her performance in『Haruhara-san no Uta』,a film in which she plays the lead role for the first time. Masashi Nakamura and Junpei Hamada, dancers who are unique in their impressive performances using their supple bodies, have gathered together.

Please look forward for a chemical reaction created by the talented team for “Crossing!”

Summary

One morning, a man wakes up in bed and finds himself in a hospital.

After receiving the doctor’s diagnosis, the man is told to be “discharged” and heads for the exit, but he is tossed about by the unique patients he meets in the hallway and somehow forgets his goal of being “discharged”. Will this man be “discharged” from the hospital safely?
